Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Jenny Whitney said over the next couple of weeks, as part of the development of the Whitsunday Regional Council 2020 corporate plan, Council will beconducting a phone survey of 300 residents in the Whitsunday region.
Mayor Whitney said we want to hear your views about what you think the Council should befocusing on over the next five years.
“Your opinions and feedback are important, and will assist the Council in terms of the futureplanning of our community,” Mayor Whitney said.
“The ten minute phone survey will ask a number of questions about what you consider to bepriorities for the Council, what additional services Council should provide, and whether Councilshould consider selling assets to help pay down debt.
“Council has already conducted an online survey asking the community to identify what youbelieve the important issues are for Whitsunday Regional Council and the phone poll is anotherway of gaining community input.
“We gathered some very good ideas and data from the online survey and hope to get more inputfrom a broader section of the community by conducting the phone survey.
“Community forums to discuss the Whitsunday Regional Council 2020 corporate plan will also be held in the four townships in coming weeks.
“Council is conducting extensive community consultation throughout the development of theWhitsunday Regional Council 2020 corporate plan.
“This is a significant step towards Council adopting a more consultative approach when developing major governance projects which drive the direction of Council,” she said.
