Residents from every corner of the Whitsundays are invited to have their say and help create a ‘road map’ for future economic growth in the region.
Whitsunday Regional Council is currently developing an Economic Development Strategy 2017-2021, and would like to capture the community’s vision and priorities for the region as part of this process.
Public consultation will take place for four weeks from next Wednesday 1 February, closing by 5pm Tuesday 28 February 2017.
As part of the consultation activities, Community Workshops will be held in Airlie Beach, Bowen, Cannonvale, Collinsville and Proserpine during the week of 20 February (full details below).
Residents can also find out more and give their feedback online at Council’s consultation website, Your Say Whitsunday.
Mayor Andrew Willcox is encouraging all residents to come forward with ideas to support future investment and employment throughout the Whitsunday Region.
“We want to know where the community believes Council should focus its resources to help facilitate future industry and economic development,” he said today.
“What are your priorities for future development and the region’s economic growth? What direction do you see the Whitsundays heading in economically?”
“In response, we will be developing clear, actionable and achievable goals Council can focus on over the next five years.”
The completed Strategy will be an overarching planning tool which outlines practical strategies and activities, along with realistic budgets and implementation plans.
