Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Jennifer Whitney said the Council is seeking quotes to fix thefence around the disability swing on Bowen foreshore that was damaged by vandals.
“The fence around the disability swing was damaged about a week ago and as a result the swing has not been usable since,” Mayor Whitney said.
“It is disgraceful that vandals would target a piece of public infrastructure which is obviously there to benefit people with a disability.
“The work is estimated to start in the next couple of weeks, to re-instate 10 metres of fencingaround the disabled swing on the Bowen foreshore.
“The Council Parks and Gardens Department intend to use similar materials to that of the existing fence.
“It is anticipated that the swing will be operational again in the coming weeks, so the people ofBowen can again make use of this great facility,” she said.
