Whitsunday Regional Council will be carrying out an approved inspection program to residential properties throughout the region to identify animal registration and the number of dogs and cats kept at each property.
Mayor Andrew Willcox said that the annual inspection program will commence on 10 October and will allow Council to determine compliance with the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008.
“Ensuring that your pet is registered is part of being a responsible pet owner and it allows our officers to immediately identify your dog if it is found wandering at large,” Mayor Willcox said.
“During the inspection program we will identify a number of factors including overgrown lots and the unsightly accumulation of goods, objects, materials or other things that detract from the amenity of the land.”
The program will be conducted for a period of three (3) months commencing 10 October 2016 and will be completed by 10 January 2017. The inspection program is in accordance with Part 2 Division 1 Subdivision 3 Section 134 – of Local Government Act 2009.
Council Officers will be clearly identified by way of Whitsunday Regional Council’s Identification Badge.
