On the road again - Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Andrew Willcox continues his open communication with residents by hosting a series of Water Billing Roadshows later this month.
The Whitsunday Region’s residential ratepayers were given a choice for their preferred water billing options as part of his council’s 2016/17 Budget adopted in July.
In September/October this year, residents will be able to choose whether they remain under the current two-part tariff water billing system or opt-in to move to the allocation system.
Mayor Andrew Willcox said eligible property owners will start receiving an Opt-in Application Notice in the mail this week with copies also available at Council’s Customer Service Centres and website.
“This council has listened to its residents by offering residential ratepayers this choice in water billing,” Cr Willcox said.
“To ensure our community has a full understanding of their options, council is rolling out an extensive engagement plan,” he said.
“Attached to the Opt-in Application Notice is a Water Tariff Education Flyer which explains in simple graphics the new water billing options.
“Council has also posted a simple water billing calculator on its website (http://www.whitsunday.qld.gov.au/528/Water-billing-options) for residents to explore their options using their individual water usage on recent notices as a guide.
“To provide further education on water billing options myself and Director of Corporate Services Graham Jarvis will host a series of roadshows where residents who may still be unsure can attend and ask questions.”
