Whitsunday Regional Council today resolved to upgrade its internet services across the region
allowing the community and Council staff better access to the World Wide Web.
Mayor Jennifer Whitney said the Council will upgrade their internet services to allow public WiFi
access at the airport and increased internet speeds at our public libraries.
“Before June school holidays, members of the public will be able to access WiFi at the Whitsunday Coast Airport, making their travelling experience through our airport more enjoyable,” Mayor Whitney said.
“This upgrade will also vastly increase the internet speed at our libraries in Cannonvale,
Proserpine, Bowen and Collinsville.
“I am sure many members of the public will be very pleased with this internet upgrade at our public libraries.
“The upgrade also allows for the ability in the future for public WiFi access in our customer service centres throughout the Whitsunday region,” she said.
Mayor Whitney said the service upgrade will also improve internet speeds for Council staff at our
depots and quarries throughout the Whitsunday region.
“Council staff having faster internet access at our remote sites ultimately means Council will be
able to service the people of the Whitsunday region more efficiently,” she said.
“This network upgrade is part of Council creating greater efficiencies across all our service delivery areas.”
