Animal Registration Renewal Notices have been issued last week, with Whitsunday Regional Council encouraging residents to take advantage of the discount period for dog and cat registrations.
Mayor Andrew Willcox said that registration discount period ends on Sunday, 31 July 2016.
“Council encourages pet owners to take advantage of the one month discount period, which runs for the month of July, after which time fees increase by approximately $20.00 each animal,” Cr Willcox said.
“Registering your dog or cat is a sign of responsible pet ownership, and it provides our Local Laws team with the very best chance of finding and returning your pet should it become lost or wander from its yard,” he said.
“A full schedule of Council’s 2016/17 Registration Fees, which includes the discounted pensioner rates, is available from any of Council’s customer service centres or from our website.”
Residents are only permitted to keep two dogs or two cats on each property, unless a multiple dog or cat permit has been applied for and approved. Unregistered animals may result in a $243.00 infringement fine.
