Law Week 2016 runs from 16 – 20 May and is an annual national event which generates an understanding of the role that law and justice plays in today’s society.
Mayor Andrew Willcox said that Law Week is the perfect chance for the entire community to enhance their knowledge of the law and the legal system in Australia and understand their rights and responsibilities as a citizen.
“Our libraries have a lot of useful resources relating to the legal system and our library teams will be more than willing to assist members of the community to access those resources,” Mayor Willcox said.
“Council will be holding informative seminars each day of law week at the Bowen Library covering a different topic every day. I encourage the community to come along and expand their knowledge of the legal and justice system.”
The seminar topics and details are as follows:
• Monday 16th May 9:30am – 10:30am – Is justice always seen to be done?
• Tuesday 17th May 9:30am – 10:30am – When is a gift card NOT a gift?
• Wednesday 18th May 9:30am – 10:30am – The “CSI Effect”
