Children across the Whitsundays are invited to experience and explore contemporary art from Australia, Asia and the Pacific through a range of drawing, hands-on and multi-media activities at the regional libraries during the upcoming school holidays.
Manager of Libraries & Community Development Sharon Tollard said that the program known as APT8 Kids on Tour is provided through the Queensland Art Gallery – Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) in conjunction with the Whitsunday Regional Council Libraries.
“Libraries at Bowen, Cannonvale, Collinsville and Proserpine libraries will offer a range of activities from the Children’s Art Centre publication known as Draw, Make, Create: APT8 Kids,“ Ms Tollard said.
“Some of the activities include drawing projects inspired by traditional art and stories, interactive online drawing activities and decorating wearable ponchos,” she said.
“I encourage anyone who is interested to contact their local library to make a booking as places are limited.”
Families should contact their local library for more information, as not all activities will be available at all branches.
The Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT) is the Queensland Art Gallery - Gallery of Modern Art's flagship exhibition focussed on the work of Asia, the Pacific and Australia.
