Whitsunday Regional Council is working towards securing road access to Thompsons Creek Boat Ramp.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said Council was liaising with several State Government departments and a Magee Road landowner to deliver an access track to the boat ramp as soon as possible.
“We recognise that Thompsons Creek Boat Landing is well used by the Proserpine community, particularly over the Christmas period and summer months, and we will be working around the clock to deliver road access to the landing as soon as possible,” Mayor Whitney said.
“We have been negotiating with the property owner to deliver legal access to the landing for some time, and we have now reached a position to construct the road on the gazetted road, rather than the currently used track,” she said.
“In establishing this road, Council’s Engineering Services team is working closely with various State Government departments to extend access beyond the gazetted road down to the landing.”
