Two Australian-based companies have been invited to advance to the next stage of the Whitsunday Coast Airport development project.
Airport General Manager, Scott Waters, said that significant progress had been made since May 2015, when Council unanimously resolved to seek Expressions of Interest (EOI) from the market.
“Various parties were invited to submit non-binding bids with a view to partnering with Council to invest in, and jointly develop, the Whitsunday Coast Airport, Bowen Aerodrome and Collinsville Aerodrome,” Mr Waters said.
“Following a successful EOI process which produced a strong field of potential candidates, Council unanimously resolved in October 2015 to proceed to request binding bids,” he said.
“All non-binding bids submitted by shortlisted parties have been evaluated, and Council has now invited two shortlisted parties to lodge a binding proposal.”
Both shortlisted entities are Australian-based companies experienced in airport ownership, management and operation throughout Australia.
The next stage of the Council’s Whitsunday Coast Airport development project will involve extensive due diligence and negotiations to finalise each company’s binding proposal by mid-December 2015.
