The rise in passenger numbers at Whitsunday Coast Airport continues, with close to 32,500 passengers passing through the facility in October alone.
Mayor Jennifer Whitney said the October results were the best on record.
“October is traditionally our busiest month of the year, but it has been particularly pleasing to see more than 6,000 additional passengers passing through the airport than usual,” Mayor Whitney said.
“Flights are averaging in excess of an 86 per cent load factor, demonstrating high and continued demand with scope for further growth,” she said.
“As our airport continues to grow and develop, so too will our region’s economy. The challenge for Council is balancing this growth and ensuring that opportunities are delivered for all economic drivers within our region.
“The Whitsunday Coast Airport is a terrific community asset, and Council is working hard to secure a partner to provide the experience, expertise and innovation required to grow our local airport.”
