Whitsunday Coast Airport’s record breaking month in October is set to continue with continued growth in services from Tigerair.
Mayor Jennifer Whitney said the airport has grown through creating strategic partnerships with our airline partners and the success of Tigerair to the Whitsundays is evidence of that.
“It is absolutely fantastic to see success be delivered through hard work and continually evolving products and services, Tigerair and the Whitsunday Coast Airport are both on the same page when it comes evolving product offerings and services.”
Tigerair’s Head of Communications, Vanessa Regan who recently attended the Airlie Beach Festival of Music as a major sponsor of the event, said “We’ve been running services between Sydney and Whitsunday Coast since April 2014 comparing 2014 to 2015 Tigerair has increased the number of visitor seats by over 23% and increased the number of passengers on the 40%,”
“As a volume business our services always evolve based on demand, we have increased services to the Whitsundays over recent times to cater for extra demand. Looking ahead we expect an increase of around 30% in visitor seats through the Whitsunday Coast Airport, Ms Regan said.
Ms Regan added, “Over the peak summer holiday period we are adding an additional 5th weekly return service on the route delivering 1800 extra visitor seats through Whitsunday Coast Airport during the peak travel period.”
