Whitsunday Regional Council has today welcomed six new apprentices as part of the new contractrelationship between Torgas and Council.
Mayor Jenny Whitney was there to welcome the new apprentices at their induction held at theProserpine Chambers along with representatives from Torgas.
“Today we welcomed six new apprentices to Council who will based in both Bowen andProserpine,” Mayor Whitney said.
“This is a very exciting time for the young apprentices who now have a fantastic opportunity to get on-the-job training and experience to forge a strong career path as a qualified tradesperson,” she said.
“Council is pleased to offer these opportunities to the youth in the area and I hope they find itrewarding,”
“I would also like to thank Torgas for their professionalism and for working closely with Council to manage the training of the apprentices through to their successful completion.”
The apprentices include:
• Apprentice Mechanic Bowen – Bevin Querro• Apprentice Mechanic Proserpine – Tyson Collingwood• Apprentice Plumber Proserpine – Riley McDougall• Apprentice Plumber Bowen – Mackenzie Mathieson• Apprentice Fitter Bowen – Brodie Malone• Apprentice Electrician Bowen – Logan Cross
Whitsunday Regional Council will begin recruitment for the 2016 apprentice intake in September2015.
