Whitsunday Regional Council today resolved to again provide $500 in support for the CollinsvilleBacon Busters and Bull Ride Competition being held from Friday 14th – Sunday 16th August 2015.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said Collinsville Bacon Busters Competition is a family fun day, whichincludes pig hunting, and last year attracted more than 200 competitors.
“Bacon Busters is a great local event for Collinsville, in addition to the pig hunt, there will be funfilled activities for the whole family,” she said.
“This is the second year in a row Council has provided $500 in support to the Collinsville StateHigh School P&C Association for the Bacon Busters event.
“The day will be action packed with loads of events, entertainment and food, including; anexhilarating bull ride, children’s races, a dog jump, Ute comp and iron man events.
“Free camping will also be available on-site at the Collinsville Rodeo Grounds for both nights.
“Councils financial support will assist with sponsorship for prizes and events on the day.
“The proceeds raised from the event will go to the local Collinsville State High School to supporteducational programs and activities.
“Additionally funds will also go towards the “buy a bale” and ‘Aussie Helpers’ campaign to support farmers and communities in drought,” she said.
