Whitsunday Regional Council today welcomes new Chief Operating Officer Ken McLoughlin, to the Council team.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said Ken joins Whitsunday Regional Council with extensive experience in local government, having previously worked for South Burnett Council, Logan City Council and Toowoomba Regional Council.
“Ken has held a number of executive roles over his long career from Executive Director Organisational Development, Director Planning and Development, Director of Strategic Projects and most recently as Chief Executive Officer of South Burnett Regional Council,” she said.
“We are pleased to welcome someone with so much local government experience, at such a pivotal time for Council and the Whitsunday region.
“Over the last two years we have stabilised Council and put us in the best financial position since amalgamation, and now is the perfect time for Council’s internal structure to reach its full potential with the appointment of Ken to the Chief Operating Officer role.
“Ken’s focus as Council’s Chief Operating Officer will ensure the internal, operational, day-to-day requirements of Council are being met to deliver core services for our community.
“This frees up our Chief Executive Officer to focus on the bigger picture strategic direction of Council, supporting our elected Councillors and growing the Whitsunday region.
“Ken’s role as Chief Operating Officer is to manage the operational aspects of the whole local government area, so he will be visiting all offices and depots over the coming days and weeks,” she said.
Ken McLoughlin said he is looking forward to the new challenge and getting on with the job.
“I am also looking forward to getting out and about and meeting all the Council staff across the region,” he said.
