Whitsunday Regional Council today noted Chief Executive Officer Scott Waters has accepted hisreappointment to the Regional Development Australia (RDA) Committee Mackay-Isaac-Whitsunday.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said the CEO’s reappointment was requested by the Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon Warren Truss MP and is for an 18 month period from 1 March 2015 to 28 August 2016.
“This is a great opportunity for both the CEO and Council, as our continued representation on the local RDA committee guarantees an active voice in advocating the Whitsunday regions’ priorities,” she said.
“It is also a good way of working together to strengthen regional economic development in thebroader Mackay-Isaac-Whitsunday region.
“The RDA Mackay-Isaac-Whitsunday committee’s vision is lifestyle, opportunity and prosperitywhich was established through extensive engagement with the community, peak bodies and three tiers of Government to map out a pathway forward for the region,” she said.
Regional Development Australia (RDA) is an Australian Government initiative thatestablished partnership between all levels of government to enhance the development ofregional communities of Australia.
In Queensland, there are 12 RDA committees that are working to develop local solutions to theeconomic, social and environmental issues affecting their communities.
