At yesterday’s Council meeting an update was presented on the Argyle Park Road upgrade toprovide access to the Bowen Cyclone Shelter during a 1 in 100 year flood event.
Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Jenny Whitney said last year Council was successful ingaining $2.48 million in Federal Government funding to upgrade Argyle Park Road to increaseflood immunity from 1 in 2 years to 1 in 100 years.
“The briefing presented at yesterday’s Council meeting outlined that further design andinvestigation work is required to be undertaken to implement this project upgrade,” she said.
“The project remains an important part of the Council’s work plan and budget for the upcomingfinancial year.
“The Chief Executive Officer will apply for an extension of time for the approved fundingapplication.”
