From tomorrow, free Wi-Fi will be available to everyone inside the terminal at Whitsunday Coast Airport.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said she is pleased Whitsunday Regional Council has been able to provide this free service to enhance passengers travel through the airport.
“This complementary service will add to the tourism experience for people visiting the beautifulWhitsunday region, and it is in place just in time for the Christmas school holidays,” she said.
“This is another step in developing the Whitsunday Coast Airport into a world class aviation facility.
“Users will just need to enter their email address and they will be able to access free Wi-Fianywhere in the terminal,” she said.
The introduction of free Wi-Fi at Whitsunday Coast Airport caps off an excellent year for the airport with the following achievements:
- October being the best month on record with in excess of 26,000 passengers passing through the airport - Introduction of Tiger Air direct Sydney flights in April - Jetstar celebrates 10 years of flying into Whitsunday Coast Airport - In May, the Airport achieved the best on time arrival and departure performance in Australia - The Whitsunday Coast Airport International Export Hub Project progressed in-conjunction with the State Government to master plan the entire airport site and provide Priority Development Area status to across the site - First quarter results for the 2014-15 year achieved record results - Winning the Local Government Tourism and Business Award at this year's Whitsunday Tourism and Business Awards - Maintaining capacity with all of our airline partners
Mayor Whitney said the Whitsunday Regional Council as operator of the Whitsunday Coast Airport will continue to work with airlines and investors to expand existing flight routes, add new routes and develop the airport itself, with the aim of upgrading the airport to international status as the Whitsunday Coast Airport International Export Hub.
“Council believes the Whitsunday Coast Airport is the single most important piece of infrastructure in the Whitsunday region to drive economic and tourism growth in the future.”
