Whitsunday Regional Council today resolved to provide $1,860 to five different community groups
across the Whitsunday region to help support the great events they provide our local community.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said this follows last Council meeting, where Council provided $3,742 to
eight different community groups across the Whitsunday region.
“Council continues to support numerous local community organisations in organising events for the Whitsunday community,” she said.
This week, Council’s support includes:
• Supporting the Whitsunday Relay for Life 2015 with a contribution of $500.00, as per the
Community Assistance Grants Policy.
• Waiving of the minor event application fee of $360.00 to support the Collinsville Lions Club
Inc. to host the Melbourne Cup Fair on the 4 November 2014.
• Waiving of the minor event application fee $375.00 in support of Girudala Community Coop
to host their Clear Jam Concert on the 31 October 2014.
• Waiving of the minor event application fee $375.00 in support of the Bowen PCYC to host
the PCYC La’Jax Dance Concert on the 29 November 2014.
• Waiving of the minor event application fee $250.00 in support of Whitsunday Crisis &
Counselling Services Inc. & the Whitsunday Neighbourhood Centre in support of “Reclaim
the Night March”, to be held on 31 October 2014.
By providing this funding the Whitsunday Regional Council is promoting the development of arts
and cultural projects, activities and festivals in the Whitsunday region.
