Whitsunday Regional Council today endorsed the recommendation of the Regional ArtsDevelopment Fund (RADF) Local Committee in approving grants for $4,800 for the Lions ClubBowen Inc and $5,000 for the Whitsunday Regional Council.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said local arts and cultural workers can make applications to the Whitsunday Regional Council to receive grants from RADF.
“The Lions Club of Bowen Inc grant for $4,800 will go towards the costs of the researching,collating and production of an enduring record of 50 years of community service to the Bowen and wider communities.
“The grant will also go towards documenting the historically significant role of the Lions Club ofBowen.
“The Whitsunday Regional Council grant of $5,000 will be used towards the costs of putting on aexhibition to celebrate the work done by people and organisations who received RADF funding in the Whitsunday Region with a RADF workshop incorporated in the event,” she said.
The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between Whitsunday Regional Council and the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland to support local arts and culture.
Their applications are assessed by a publicly elected committee against criteria based on program guidelines and priorities identified in each Council’s Arts and Cultural Development policy.
The successful and long-running RADF program gives communities the flexibility to shape theirown arts and cultural priorities
