Whitsunday Regional Council today resolved to provide $1,700 to support local schools across the Whitsunday region to go towards rewarding commitments and excellence for studentachievements.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said each year Council sponsors prizes for each school in the region foracademic, social, arts and sports awards.
“Council will allocate $100 for each school in the region, to help acknowledge the great work of our students throughout 2014,” she said.
“This is a small token Council can make to encourage and reward students who have achievedexcellence throughout the year.”
The following schools will receive $100 each from Council:
• Bowen Primary• Cannonvale Primary & Prep• Collinsville Primary• Gumlu Primary• Hamilton Island Primary• Hayman Island Primary• Merinda Primary• Proserpine State School• Queens Beach State School• St John Bosco Primary• St Mary’s Primary• Scottville Primary High Schools• Bowen High School• Collinsville High School• Proserpine State High School Grade’s 1 to 12• Whitsunday Christian College• St Catherine’s Catholic School
