Whitsunday Regional Council today resolved to conduct an inspection program of dog and cat
registrations across the Whitsunday region.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said this is due to fewer dogs and cats being registered this year than last
year.
“The program will inspect residential properties across the Whitsunday Regional Council area to
identify the number of dogs and cats kept at each property and to ensure they are registered, so as to comply with the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008,” she said.
“While these inspections are being conducted Council officers will also identify overgrown and
unkempt properties and properties which may have accumulated too many goods or materials
which could result in pest problems.”
The inspection program will commence on 8th September and run until 28th November 2014.
Inspections will be carried out between 8am-4pm Monday to Friday by Council’s Local Law
Officers.
