Council has endorsed a revised Proserpine Main Street Streetscape plan and asked that work getunderway immediately on the $21,500 project.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said after much toing and froing to incorporate community feedback,streetscape work can now commence.
“There were concerns surrounding the removal and relocation of a few trees but these issues have now been rectified and I am keen to see the refurbishment project complete,” she said.
“Once complete the refurbished street will be more aesthetically pleasing and the safety concerns that were raised have been addressed.”
The Plan identified the following modifications to the Proserpine Main Street between Chapmanand Herbert Street:
?Removal of two Cassia trees.?Relocation of two Cassia trees outside of the Reef Catchments office block.?Truncate the concrete build outs to enable cyclists a safer passage along the Main Street.?Install bollards on remaining concrete build outs.
