Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Jenny Whitney said congratulations must go to the Council staff and external consultants who helped complete the $50.2m 2011 Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements road repairs in the Whitsunday region.
“An engineering report presented at today’s Ordinary Council Meeting shows the 2011 NDRRA
program was completed at the end of May this year, within the final budget of $50.2 million,” Mayor Whitney said.
“This has been an extraordinary effort with Council workers from Bowen, Collinsville and
Proserpine depots participating in the delivery of the projects.
“The 2011 NDRRA program has now delivered 208,675m2 of sealed road repairs across the
Whitsunday region.
“This is a significant achievement as most of the work was undertaken using Council staff.
“Through this project our staff have shown that they have the ability to deliver road construction
projects within time and budget.
“Council’s internal design team also made a large contribution towards the project as most designs were carried out in-house.
“I would like to thank all staff who were involved in this project, on behalf of all of Council for their
hard work.
“Four external projects were also commissioned as part of the 2011 NDRRA Program and the
external contractors are also thanked for their work,” she said.
