Residents of the Whitsunday region are reminded to take advantage of the discount period for dog and cat registrations.
Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Jenny Whitney said registrations for pet owners are due on 1 July with the discount period running until the 31st July.
“Pet owners are encouraged to take advantage of the one month discount period, and are
reminded that registering your dog or cat is a sign of responsible pet ownership,” Mayor Whitney
said.
“It gives our Local Law Officers the very best chance of finding and returning your dog or cat
should it become lost or wander from your yard.
“Pensioners are also reminded they receive much reduced rates for dog and cat registration,
making pet ownership less onerous on a tight income.
“Residents are also reminded that only two dogs or two cats are allowed per property unless a
Multiple Dog or Cat Permit has been applied for and approved,” she said.
