Whitsunday Regional Council is reminding Proserpine dog owners to make sure their dogs are tied up or locked up this Friday night to prevent distress for the dogs from the Proserpine Showfireworks.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said the Proserpine Show is a great night out for the whole family, butdoesn’t need to be at the expense of your dog’s welfare.
“Fireworks can be very distressing for pet dogs, so ensuring your dogs are tied up or locked up will prevent them from jumping fences, running away and getting further distressed,” Mayor Whitney said.
“Each year, Council’s Local Laws Officers receive numerous complaints about distressed dogs on the run in Proserpine after the fireworks.
“Please ensure your dogs are properly secured so as not to further upset the animals,” she said.
To report missing or stray dogs please call Council’s Local Law Officers on 4945 0200.
