Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Jennifer Whitney congratulated Councillor Andrew Willcox onbeing re-elected Deputy Mayor for another 12 months.
“I’m pleased Cr Willcox has been re-elected Deputy Mayor for another year, as he can build on his experience in the role over the last 12 months,” Mayor Whitney said.
“We’ve got an important year ahead for the region as we continue to stabilise the Council’sfinances and get the budget back on track.
“Cr Willcox’s experience will be a great help in his capacity as Deputy Mayor over the next year.
“I look forward to continuing to work with him to unite the region and benefit the whole Whitsunday community over the next year,” she said.
Councillor Willcox was unanimously elected Deputy Mayor unopposed.
Councillors resolved to review the position of Deputy Mayor in twelve months from appointment.
Therefore as per section 165 (4) of the Local Government Act and in accordance with Council’sresolution, written notice of a resolution to declare the deputy mayor office vacant was circulated to Councillors on 7 May, 2014.
