Whitsunday Regional Libraries are asking the community to raise a cup on May 22nd for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea and help Cancer Council raise vital funds for cancer prevention, research and support services.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said the Beach, Proserpine and Bowen libraries will be hosting communitymorning teas at 10am to help support the cause and make a difference.
“Every year about 36,000 morning teas are held across Australia, as part of Australia’s biggestmorning tea, to support Cancer Council’s life-saving work into prevention programs, world classresearch and support services for all people affected by cancer,” she said.
“Most people in Australia know someone who has been affected by cancer, taking part in theBiggest Morning Tea is a great way to raise money for the cancer awareness, prevention andtreatment through the Cancer Council.
“It’s a great cause for the community to get involved in and I encourage interested members of the community to come along to one of our libraries, have a cuppa and tuck into some delicious and healthy morning tea treats.
“Gold coin donations will be collected at the libraries and passed on to the Cancer Council.Collinsville Customer Service Centre will also be taking donations on the day.
“There couldn’t be an easier way to help make a difference,” she said.
Council staff will also be holding morning teas in the Bowen, Collinsville and Proserpine officeswith donations collected also going to Cancer Council.
