A wide range of free activities will be on offer at Whitsunday Regional Libraries during the upcoming June-July school holidays.
From Mad Hatter tea parties and ‘booknics’ in the park, to games, crafts, baby and toddler storytime, dot painting and interactive workshops with professional comedian and public speaker Sean Murphy, kids of all ages will be entertained and challenged these school holidays.
Mayor Andrew Willcox said the region’s libraries will be buzzing with fun, safe activities for all local children.
“We are particularly excited to bring Sean Murphy to the region next week, fresh from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, to run his popular interactive comedy shows from 1 – 4 July,” he said.
“Kids between the ages of 5 and 12 can learn and laugh along with Sean at comedy workshop Games Boy 18 every morning, from 10am to noon, at Proserpine, Cannonvale, Bowen and Collinsville libraries respectively.”
“Sean will then follow up at each library by leading a free 3-hour workshop each afternoon from 1.30pm to 4.30pm with Better Than TED, a practical approach to world-class public speaking which is aimed at kids between 12 to 18 years.”
Limited spaces are available for these activities and age limits may apply, so early bookings are recommended. Parents are reminded that children under 8 years must be accompanied and supervised by an adult when visiting the libraries. Please note not all activities are available at all libraries.
