Residents of the Whitsunday Region are reminded to take advantage of the discount period for dog and cat registrations.
Mayor Andrew Willcox said registrations for pet owners are due on 1 July with the discount period ending 31 July.
“Pet owners are encouraged to take advantage of the one month discount period, and are reminded that registering your dog or cat is a sign of responsible pet ownership,” Mayor Andrew Willcox said.
“It gives our Local Law Officers the very best chance of finding and returning your dog or cat should it become lost or wander from its yard,” he said.
“Residents are also reminded that only two dogs or two cats are allowed per property unless a multiple dog or cat permit has been applied for and approved.”
Pet owners who pay for their registrations before the 31 July 2017 they will pay $99.00 for a dog, $46.00 for a de-sexed dog or $42.00 for a de-sexed and microchipped dog. Cat owners will pay $31.00 for a cat, $18.00 for a de-sexed cat and/or $10.00 for a de-sexed and microchipped cat.
Pensioners will pay $51.00 for a dog, $20.00 for a de-sexed dog and/or $15.00 for a de-sexed and microchipped dog.
Unregistered animals may result in a $252.00 infringement.
