Whitsunday Regional Council is calling for expressions of interest from community members who have an interest in the arts and want to become members of the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) committee.
Mayor Jennifer Whitney said the Council in conjunction with Arts Queensland undertakes theRADF program that supports professional artists and arts practitioners living in the Whitsundayregion.
“If you are passionate about the arts and keen to get involved Council is looking to fill a number of positions on the committee which assess the RADF grant applications,” Mayor Whitney said.
“Grants of up to $5,000 per applicant are awarded to artists under eight different categoriesincluding; developing regional skills, building community cultural capacity, interest-free arts loan,cultural tourism, contemporary collections/stories, regional partnerships, concept development or arts policy development and implementation.
“Successful applicants come from a variety of arts disciplines and funding goes towards a diverse range of projects including workshops, exhibitions, festivals and shows.
“The committee ensures that RADF grants are allocated according to the principles and fundingcriteria in the RADF guidelines and are also involved in the development of art and culturalinitiatives in the Whitsunday region,” she said.

Mayor Whitney said funding rounds of the RADF are now open and Whitsunday Regional Council is calling for applications.

The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between Whitsunday Regional Council and the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland to support local arts and culture.
