Geological reports recommend the andesite is suitable for use in production of durable and innocuous road base, concrete sand/aggregate and asphaltic/sealing aggregate. Furthermore, the reports conclude the rock is also suitable for use as rail ballast, rip rap and armour rock.
Our quality of our rock materials is a key attribute of the quarry and we are happy to share the reports with interested customers.
Foxdale Quarry production is regulated by the Department of Natural Resources and Mines (NRM) for the safe extraction of parent material. Operations are administered under the Integrated Planning Act (1997) and in compliance with conditions of the Sales Permit issued by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF).
Prior to recent development, the quarry produced on average in the vicinity of 120,000-150,000 tonnes of material per annum. In recent years the quarry has seen this amount increase to 250,000 tonnes with a peak production of 600,000 tonnes in the 2011-12 financial year.
During the 2013/14 financial year, the quarry produced in excess of 45,000 tonne of road base per month to meet the needs of the NDRRA program, including in excess of 80,000 tonne of cement stabilised material delivered to various sites within the region.
The predominant materials produced at Foxdale Quarry are Type 2.1 and 2.3 road base and aggregates. A range of other materials are produced to meet demand, including overburden/fill and armour rock.
